Inlaid with Shipwrights’ Arms with fanciful embellishments, in an oval 16in x 9in – the shield of the Shipwrights’ Arms with the lion wearing a crown, supporters eagles holding in their beaks strings of shipwrights’ tools, crest a lion holding a banner of the arms of the East India Company, and motto “Without Parade We Flourish”. This rare form of the arms appears to have been used only about 1780 to 1800, concurrently with the Shipwrights’ Arms with Supporters – presumably not by the Company, but probably by members of the Company who were closely associated with the East India Company.
