Liverpool Ware Jug
10.3/4in high, decorated with partially coloured underglaze transfers, on one side, “THE SHIPWRIGHT’S ARMS“, portrayed with ark in place of ship, naval crown in place of crest, and supporters holding dexter, a stick, sinister, a short axe in place of the correct tools, over a floral display; on the other, “SHIP CAROLINE“, portrayed; under spout, “JAMES LEECH“, over the American eagle and shield; date 1792.
