Apprentice Jack Pearce of Zenith Marine is powering ahead!

Meet Jack Pearce, one of our 2021-22 sponsored Boat builder apprentices, employed at Zenith Marine in Plymouth. Jack has had a busy few months, including time spent in Germany fully involved in a refit project for five Superyacht tenders! He is learning his off the job training at South Devon College. Jack told us: “Whilst I was working in Germany, I witnessed the full effects of managing a big project like this. All the components from including engines, drives, navigation equipment, electrics and teak was removed from the five tenders leaving a bare shell.”

Back in the UK he has developed his skills on a broad range of fronts. Jack said: “I have also been learning some underwater repairs, filling in voids and other damages that have occurred. At first this wasn’t something I was very confident of completing on my own but after being taught the correct ways to complete these repairs I now have the confidence to start and finish the job by myself.”

His manager Josh Langford stated: “Jack has been progressing really well, he’s been a pleasure to have working with us.”

A great start, and Jack is proving to be a real credit not only to his company but the wider marine industry as well.
