2011 QSM Bronze Medal Winner Update
Chris Schrieber of Sunseeker won the Bronze Medal in the 2011 Queen’s Silver Medal Competition. Phil Lambert of Sunseeker has forwarded a report on Chris, who had been an Engineering apprentice with them before moving to the RNLI on completing his apprenticeship. Chris is now making his own coastal rowing racing boats and began by taking a splash from a wooden vessel and making a plug which he modified before taking the mould from that plug. The finished product is carbon and its really quite impressive, he already has 2 orders for more and future boats will be infused rather than hand laid.
To quote Phil Lambert (a veteran of the Shipwrights’ Lectures) “It just goes to show that the skills you learn from a Sunseeker apprenticeship can really be applied elsewhere in the industry.”
