Thankyou from Fulham Reach Boat Club

Steve O’Connor, CEO of FRBC has written to thank the Shipwrights’ Company as follows:

Dear Friends and Supporters,

I just wanted to take a moment to thank you all for your continued support of FRBC during 2022 and especially over the last school term.  Whether it be Saharan temperatures or arctic blasts, the young people we work with have continued to get out on the water and realise their potential both in and out of a boat.  It’s been particularly pleasing to see our state schools get back up to speed with the below being achieved over the past 12 weeks alone:

  • 8 state schools attended
  • 478 state school students on the water
  • 2,569 pupil participant sessions (bums on seats!)

“I enjoyed being on the river and learning to row.”  – 93% said yes

“Through the FRBC rowing programme I have learned how to work as part of a team.” – 87% said yes

“Rowing has helped teach me how to focus more than I used to.”  – 78% said yes

“Now that I have done a learn to row course, I feel more confident on the river.”  – 85% said yes

“I’d love to compete more and win more rowing races.”54% said yes

“Would you like to continue with rowing once your course is finished?” – 69% said yes

Some of the children told us:

“Its fun”

“instructors were super nice”

“it helps me talk to others”

“amazing club”

“we had so much fun”

“this is amazing.”

“I love rowing”

Your support is what keeps FRBC going and I’m incredibly grateful to all of you for what you have done to keep FRBC delivering on its vision of Rowing for All.  The young people we work with understand this too and they have made a video to say Thank You to all of you, their sterling work can be seen on our YouTube channel here:

I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas and I’m very much looking forward to seeing you all in 2023!

Steve
