Reports from the Disabled Sailors’ Association

At the Education and Charity Committee meeting in June 2025 it was agreed to make a Responsive Donation of £1,900 to the Disabled Sailors’ Association to enable 5 disabled young people to complete the DSA Sail Training Scheme.  DSA has clearly made full use of the grant and have sent the following message of thanks and two reports:

In July 2025, the Shipwrights Charitable Fund very generously donated for the DSA to help 5 young people to work towards obtaining Royal Yacht Association qualifications.  Please find attached a report about our sailing and training in 2025 along with a more specific and updated report about the young people who attended our sail training scheme in 2026.  As you can see, we successfully helped 10 young people achieve qualifications last year, 5 of them with your support and are expecting a higher number of achievements this year.

The Shipwrights’ Company has regularly provided grants to facilitate the work conducted by DSA [formerly RoRo Sailing Project & Thomas Morley Trust] who make a real difference to the young people they support.
