Lord Mayors Charity, Inter Livery Clay Pigeon Shooting Competition – 17 May 2023

On Wednesday the 17th of May, The Shipwrights Shooting Teams took to the field once again to compete in the Lord Mayors Charity, Inter Livery clay pigeon shooting competition.

The new venue at West London Shooting School put on a more challenging set of sporting targets and two flushes than we have experienced in previous years at “The Other Place”! But we didn’t disgrace ourselves by any means.

The event is so successful that there are two hundred and thirty teams of four guns each day which makes getting through the stands a little slower than desirable, but we rose to the challenge. The Grocers and The Gunmakers took the spoils in the Team placings with Shipwrights A coming 44th and B coming 61st out of the 466 Teams competing. Both in  the upper quartile, I’ll keep pressing for more practice next year!

Notable mention must go to Ben Maclehose who came 18th equal, and Simon Crawford who came 19th equal. We performed very well in all the flush rounds, but failed to make the cut even with a 17/20 on the grouse flush. Very high standard by the usual suspects!

A great day for comradeship though, with lovely sunshine.
