Shipwrights Apprenticeship Scheme Administrator – Terms of Reference

Responsibilities

 

  • Manage the movement of funds to and from SMEs and the Shipwrights
  • Disseminate appropriate funding information to marine SMEs
  • Make recommendations to and track and report on objectives to the Shipwrights Education and Charities committee
  • Coordinate and engage with training providers and colleges nationally
  • Mentor successful companies joining the scheme
  • Encourage marine SMEs to take on 3 and 4 year apprentices
  • Continue to expand the fund raising profile of the scheme and raise funds to ensure the targets are met.

Knowledge and Skills

Essential

  • Budget and Financial administration experience
  • Business development experience
  • Proven written and oral communication skills
  • Demonstrated interest in education/training
  • Proven experience of working with minimal supervision in a busy environment and an ability to make decisions
  • Proven IT skills including Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel

Desirable

  • Previous experience with charitable funding and fund raising
  • Knowledge of marine apprenticeships, frameworks and college provision
  • Able to communicate the importance of training to businesses that have no previous experience of proving training
  • Knowledge of the marine industry and marine training
  • Preferably educated to degree level

This position will be based at the BMF headquarters, Marine House, Egham and the post holder will report directly to the Clerk of the Worshipful Company of Shipwrights.  This position will work closely with the Chairman of the Education and Charities Committees as well as with the British Marine Federation Training department, the BMF Regional Executives, Berthon Boat Company Ltd., the National Apprentice Service and SEMTA where appropriate.
