Two rows of twenty four 9ct. gold links joined by reef  knots, with at the foot a clasp in form of a dolphin from which the badge may be suspended.

  The first link of the outer row is inscribed:

 THIS CHAIN

FOR USE WITH

THE PRIME WARDEN’S BADGE

WAS PRESENTED BY

MAJOR GEN. G.S. SZLUMPER C.B.E.

TO COMMEMORATE HIS YEAR OF OFFICE

AS PRIME WARDEN

1947-48.

 The first link of the inner row is inscribed:

 THE INNER ROW OF LINKS IN THIS CHAIN WAS PRESENTED

BY SIR W. NICHOLAS CAYZER Bt. SECOND WARDEN 1967.

 In 1987 the links of the outer row were removed, placed in a blue leather storage case, and replaced by new blank links for future use.
